Troubleshoot recipe to get optimum performance from your PC-Part 2

                    Before continue must read Troubleshoot recipe to get optimum performance from your PC-Part1 to learn the necessary steps and required precaution when troubleshooting your computer. Here in the part-2, we learn about 5 more computer issue diagnose and their troubleshooting.


Issue 1: Computer is restarting automatically

                     There may be a number of issues that can restart your computer automatically. Maybe a faulty hardware or maybe an important file missing from the operating system can also cause computer restart automatically. In such scenario do these step one by one to get rid of such issue.

Diagnose the exact issue that occurring automatically computer restart.
  • First of all, you have to know when your computer is restarting?
  • Is it just after you have login to desktop or after a few minutes later since you have login to your desktop?
  • Is your computer restarting when the computer is booting or loading the operating system from the boot media?

Troubleshooting:
  • Your first step is to unplug all external connector and reconnect all the connector to ensure that there do not have any loose connection issue.
  • If your computer is restarting just after login to your desktop then try to open the computer in SAFE MODE by pressing F8 from the keyboard. Now check that in safe mode your computer gets a restart after login to your desktop or not.

Safe mode is a troubleshooting option for Windows that starts your computer in a limited state. Only the basic files and drivers necessary to run Windows are started. The words "Safe Mode" appear in the corners of the display to identify which Windows mode you are using. At the first screen after you hit the power button you can find at the bottom of screen SAFE MODE option “Press F8 to enter safe mode”.

  • Assume your computer does not restart after getting on the desktop in SAFE MODE. Now you can nearly confirm yourself that it may not be an operating system fault and it may be a hardware side issue or virus affected.


  • Run a rootkit removal virus scan to remove root virus, if there was a virus issue that occurring the computer automatic restart can solve by running a rootkit removal virus scan. If you are unaware about system file then it's better to use other root virus removal tools like Avast rescue bootable cd or ESET smart security rescue bootable disk or Avira rescue bootable disk rather than using Regrun Reanimator. What is rescue bootable disk?
         A rescue bootable disk or known as live disk is a bootable media used when user unable to boot their pc and contain various repair and diagnostic tools which can fix a lot of issue as a rescue bootable media consists repair and diagnostic tools as much possible in one CD. For a system admin this is a must having diagnostic tool.

You can use one of this rescue disk if you don't have one:
                 Kaspersky Rescue Disk
                 F-Secure Rescue CD
                 ESET SysRescue Disk
  • Now open 10 or more program and add few more MS Excel file or add few more MS Word or AutoCAD worksheet. Leave your computer in that state for an hour to watch what exactly happening. It means to give the computer a heavy data processing pressure.
  • Oh! ho … you are still facing the same problem of “computer automatic restart” when you give little more data processing pressure at a time.
  • Now time to open the motherboard opposite side cover. Take necessary precaution earlier described in the article Troubleshoot recipe to get optimum performance from your PC-Part1.
  • Check is there any sound coming from HDD when running your Computer is running. If not then it may not be an issue due to HDD error and If there any sound present in HDD then maybe your HDD need to repair and you should visit the service center at the earliest.
  • If HDD is OK condition next check their overheating issue as we know computer processor and chipset generate heat. To reduce processor heat a processor heat sink and a processor fan is used.
  • Check processor fan is working or not.
  • Processor heat sink is attached to the processor with heat sink paste  After a long time using a computer sometimes the heat sink paste get dry and this is the one major issue which occurring automatic restart. So make sure your heat sink paste is wet or dry.

Issue 2: Computer not booting and Sound Beeping:

                     This is one of the most Common problem found on a computer. After pressing the power button a beep sound is coming from the CPU is due to connectivity issue of System memory or RAM on the motherboard.

  • Open motherboard opposite side cover from desktop
  • Find the RAM on the motherboard.
  • Press the two RAM end clip toward motherboard to release the RAM.
  • Clean the PIN side of RAM with a Rubber.
  • Press the RAM toward motherboard placing on the RAM SLOT
  • Close the cover of the CPU and press power button to start the PC.
  • Hope this issue has been solved now.

Issue 3: How to solve system file missing error:

                   If you find any system file missing error you should check your system file integrity. System file integrity will make sure that all the necessary system files are in right place. To check system file integrity and solve system file missing error you can do this two step.

                  1. Make scan with SFC command
                  2. Run repair with the original operating system media.

How to scan with SFC command to system file integrity?

  • Open Command prompt window in administrator mode.
  • Press Windows+X or right click on Start to open admin command prompt menu
  • Type SFC /SCANNOW and press enter to check system file integrity.

Issue 4: How to backup and restore registry file on a Windows Computer

                   Backing up registry file is a very important task if you are often tweaking with your computer as you done anything wrong to your Computer the restoring the backup registry will save the operating system re-installation time.

  • Open run window from key combination Windows+R from keyboard
  • Type REGEDIT and press enter to open registry editor window.
  • Click on File from the menu
  • Click on export to backup the registry file.
  • Select a location and give a name to save the backup registry file.
  • Press OK to save

                    To restore the backup registry if you ever need then just double click on saved registry file and press yes to confirm adding registry file and all done. Or

  • Click on the file menu on Registry editor window.
  • Click on import.
  • Select backup registry file from saved location
  • Press OK to restore saved registry
 
Issue 5: How to reduce start-up time of a Computer.
                    Start-up time can be reduced by turning off unnecessary start-up program. To remove unnecessary start program

For Windows 7 and Earlier operating system version:
  • Open RUN window
  • Type MSCONFIG and press enter
  • Untick unnecessary program from the start-up tab
  • Press OK to save configuration
  • Restart your computer to work saved the configuration.
For Windows 10 PC user:

Task manager
  • Open task manager
  • Click on Startup tab.
  • Click on the program shown in the window
  • Click disable to turn off the program from start-up
This will surely reduce your start-up time as well as you will get a faster boot to get on the desktop.
