Guide to Enable Hidden Administrator Account in Windows 10

By default in Windows 10 PC, we are taking to the local Administrator account instead of the built-in Administrator account. The built-in Administrator account by default in Windows 10 PC is in a secured (hidden) state. For some reason, if you need access to the built-in Administrator, and if you don't know how to enable hidden Administrator account in Windows 10 PC, you can not easily access administrator account.

             In my case, I was not able to install my D-Link 3G Data card to access the internet with the default local administrator account. There was some Digital Signature issue with my Data-card and the built-in Administrator blocking the installation. So, I need access to the built-in administrator account to complete the installation.

             Here you have two simple guides to enable hidden Administrator Account in Windows 10 Operating System.

Guide 1. - Command Prompt Method

             Right click on the Start Menu and click on Command Prompt (Admin) to enter Command Prompt in Administrator mode. Alternatively, you can use "Windows+X" instead of Right click on Start Menu to get the elevated menu.

             In the Administrator Command Prompt type the command "net user administrator /active:yes" and press Enter.

             You have enabled your built-in Administrator Account in Windows 10 PC. Now if you want to hide again or disable the built-in Administrator Account then follow the above step to get on the Administrator Command Prompt. Type the command "net user administrator /active:no" and hit the Enter to disable built-in Administrator account.


Optional Tips: You can also perform these optional tasks using the command "net user". Use help command "net user ?" for more available syntax. You can set a password for your built-in administrator or can join a domain and more.

Guide 2. - Local User Management Console Method

  1. Open "Run" command.
  2. Type "lusermgr.msc" and hit Enter.
  3. From the left side select "Users".
  4. From the right side double click on "Administrator" to get administrator properties window.
  5. Go to "General" tab in the Administrator properties window. 
  6. Untick the "Account is disabled" to enable hidden Administrator account.

             This two method is the most easiest method to enable hidden Administrator account in Windows 10 PC. Besides this you can also use the "Registry Editor" and "Group Policy Settings" to enable Administrator Account in Windows 10.
